Halloween 2009 (Edna K or Kate Gosselin?)

So I changed my mind at the last minute....Instead of being Max, I went as Edna Krabappel, the infamous cougar on the Simpsons. It was rad because I got to go out with my pals Lenny and Carl, and we all had a blast.
We make our heads out of foam, fabric, mesh, lots of glue gun, styrofoam, and other craft supplies. my eyelashes are pipe cleaner and I made my legs too.

I think i kind of look like Kate Gosselin a bit too....if she was a cartoon.

Enjoy the pics!

Where the Wild Things Are

My favourite book EVER is now a movie:

I can't describe how happy this makes me. My mom read me this book when I was a kid...I can remember how happy me and my brother were when it was available at the library!

I'm so pumped that I'm going to go as Max for halloween this year. I think it will be the most comfortable costume I've ever worn! Stay tuned for pictures of my costume and Andrew's costume as well!

Jewels from the Woods

I was immediately drawn to this line of jewels by Anthony Roussel....they are made from cork and wood, and as you can see, are completely magnificent works of art. I love when artists go big....

Hoping to own one someday, and wear it proudly in the woods, or in any beautiful natural surrounding.

Check out Anthony's website here

Although I was initially drawn to the rings, I am completely infatuated with this bangle! Sweet mercy.

Under Where??

Every now and then when I stop to examine my underwear selection, I realize that they are not nearly fancy enough. I would just love it if Touch Me Not, Clare Bare, and Hopeless would take over my undie drawer!

First, some adorable undies from ClareBare:

Model wipe outs

You have to check out this video. One of the models falls not once, but twice! It's horrible, but so funny....
Find the falls at 1:55 and 2:00

I think it's safe to say that the shoes played a significant role in both wipe outs. Here's hoping I don't bail at the wedding....

Hello, Stranger!

This past week I got a free coupon for a facebook ad, which I am currently running....and which is probably what brought you here if this is your first time on my blog!

So this is my blog.....
I am an artist working in many different mediums....clothing, painting, vinyl signs and decoration....and I'm also interested in lots of other hippie activities...like recycling, composting, gardening, reading, and contemplating life, love, and the great questions. I've only just started blogging, but would love to hear what you're interested in, whether its fashion, being eco-friendly, eating raw, or art. My day to day life as an artist allows me quite a bit of freedom to explore new things that I'm interested in, and if you're interested in them too, well then that's just peachy.

my email address is hotellemotelle@gmail.com and my name is krissy!

Emily Ryan

One of my faves on etsy, a sweet designer from Portland, the land of clothing designers.

I'm all about the details

I think the term 'handmade' comes with a lot of negative connotations....loose threads, uneven stitches, bad overall quality. I have never been a fan of poorly made clothes, even if they are home-made, and of the 'thought that counts' variety. Since the dawn of my sewing career, mid-highschool, I have been detail oriented and driven to perfection.

Currently, I am mastering hoodies. The latest crop is amazing. I can't wait to see how my future items turn out. Using little tricks like binding the hood/neck with ribbing, lining the zipper & hood, serging everything and even adding a tag is what makes my hoodies fabulous.

The final product is nothing short of what I would want for myself. Enjoy the close ups!

new hoodies for fall 2009

mmmmmmm.......hoodies!
I'm so ready for fall. Ready for comfy sweatshirts, big pockets, cool air, geese migration....oh but i'm not giving up my sandals just yet. Fall is perfect for transitioning into more layers....you don't have to give up your favorite tank or mini skirt, or your beloved sandals. Just put on
another layer and you're good to go.

Designing for this fall has been really easy for me. Basically I just sat there and wrote down all the things I wanted in my wardrobe. The hoodies are gonna start things off....followed by some more sweatshirts, tees, and dresses. Stay tuned!

Now On Big Cartel!

After several attempts to join Big Cartel, it finally happened without my computer crashing. Maybe it's not compatible with safari? Anyways my idea with the Big Cartel store is to be doing custom orders there only. I don't really want to be listing my items in two different places, in case, omg, they sell simultaneously in both places at once!!! I'm sure this never happens, but people seem to really freak out about this kind of thing. SO instead, I will be offering custom items only, and hopefully that will be just fantastic.

See me on Big Cartel at: hotellemotelle.bigcartel.com
Yeah...it needs some work. but later.

What else is there to say? Except that i'm sorry, the custom fabrics to the right are not exactly up to date. I will hopefully be able to update them soon!

It's saturday. I am going to sew all day after I go to the gym, and I can't wait to upload some new things later today.

There is no possibility that I will get distracted today, since  my home no longer has internet (a blessing in disguise?) and also because it is so freakin spic and span right now due to a massive cleaning event sponsored by my procrastination only two days ago.  I can still smell the floor cleaner, which, by the way is also part of what sponsored my cleaning spree.

Years ago, I discovered this floor cleaner which absolutely smells like heaven. I was at the grocery store and I saw it, and had to have it. I proceeded to go home and mop almost immediately! That's how good it is!!

It's called Eco Ver Floor Soap and its amazing, eco friendly, and not very expensive! Honestly, while you are mopping the smell puts you into a beautiful daydream. Anyways it makes my hardwood floors look fantastic, and 2 days later the smell is faint but still glorious.

I would love to know if anyone has used the EcoVer Laundry soap!

Ok I'm off. Have a fabulous Saturday, mine is just getting started here at 11:00 sharp!

Paradise Lost

I spend a lot of my time thinking about Paradise Lost: Both the poem, and its meaning... thinking about man's . Mankind's dilemmas, or many dilemmas, regarding the earth, or religion, or how tempting an apple is. I don't really know where all of this comes from. Anyone who knows me knows that I enjoy asking the difficult questions in life...which eventually led me back to etsy.

Enjoy my 'Paradies Lost' picks:
